Greetings All, Writing you from the warm, sunny jungle of Puerto Viejo, Costa Rica! There was a day I did not know if I would ever get to step foot in another country during my World Race Journey, but God always finishes what he starts! Praising him for the blessing it is to be here, doing ministry. The month of January was a full month that went by quickly. We made the transition to a new place and culture and got to start ministry on the field! Ministry has looked like a lot of different things. Everything from manual labor, evangelism, sports ministry and youth ministry. Check out my blog “what are we doing” for more about what ministry we have had the opportunity to be apart of the last three weeks. This month has personally looked like seeking out the Lord more and more and resting in his love for me. I have been learning how to rely on him more and more as we do ministry. To give well I need to receive well and be filled up by the Father. As a squad we are learning how to step into flexibility as the culture here does not traditionally have set schedules and routines. Additionally, the enemy has been very prevalent among the squad trying to be a discouragement to ministry. We are doing God’s work and he wants to hinder it any way he can. Praise the Lord we have authority over his lies and attacks through the holy spirit in us. Apart from ministry we have enjoyed getting to explore the area we get to call home for the next three months, the beaches are beautiful and we have some fun neighbors! A sloth that fell out of the tree one day and monkeys who we occasionally see hanging out in the tree tops as well as make themselves known by their violent screeching. It is hard to believe we are stepping into month six of the race. Here are some praises from this past month and ways you can be praying for month six! Praises 1) Arrived Safely in Costa Rica! 2) My squad is fully funded!! The last update I shared with you we still were fundraising several thousand dollars, but we saw the body of Christ come together in amazing ways and we are so thankful for the way God provided the remaining funds! 3) We are actively doing ministry, serving the community, and getting to partner with God in the work he is doing in Puerto Viejo. Prayers 1) Pray against any attacks from the enemy, that my squad would be able to discern his attacks and remain unified. 2) For good relationships to be built with the community as we serve them in different ways and with our hosts! 3) For flexibility as our schedule is always changing and a willingness to step into whatever we are asked to. Blessings, Abigail
You make everything look easy Abigal! Such sweet grace is on your life. Thank you for this update and for your heart, and the work you are doing in Puerto Viejo.
Abigail-
Wise words! Thank you for giving us specifics to pray about for your Squad. Cultural differences can be invigorating, but when they conflict with core beliefs, they can be growth opportunities (and those bring some pretty tough growing pains!!)
I love you beautiful!!!!
