I woke up to our driver yelling, “Welcome home family”. After over a 24-hour travel day we pulled into the driveway at 5 AM just before the sun began to rise.

Hope DR is the organization we have the honor  of serving alongside the next two months. The base is located in a small community called La Jas in the beautiful mountains of the Dominican Republic.

The Dominguez family is our incredible hosts; they are driven by the desire to see everyone in the DR personally encounter God. The Dominguez’s have been working to equip and plant several churches in this area. They are also working towards providing safety and restoration for abused and exploited minors by being the first safe house in the Dominican Republic.

During our time here we have the opportunity to rotate between four main ministry focuses to help them in their mission! Outreach, admin, property and creative ministry.

Outreach looks like ministry with the community for example; prayer walks through the community, packing and bringing needed groceries to families, writing encouraging notes and preparing items for women and young girls stuck in sex trafficking.

Admin looks like a variety of different tasks helping out with the business side for example, preparing a website for exploited women to sell products they make when Hope mountain opens up as a safe house or writing up blogs and content for their website.

Property ministry helps out with construction and maintenance around the bases property. The goal with these different projects is to help prepare the property to hold retreats, camps etc. for the churches they have planted as well as house exploited women when the paperwork is finalized for a safe house.

Creative ministries main focus is creating skits and dance performances that can be used to teach Dominicans. The goal is for them to perform them for their own communities instead of relying on missions teams to always be here to perform a minister to the community.

Gap F is excited to be serving here at Hope Mountain. Unfortunately, because of the Covid situation we will not have the opportunity to do as much face-to-face ministry but we are grateful to be serving in support rolls to help Vickie and Ruben in reaching their hopes and dreams for their ministry.

A little glimpse into what our day to day schedule is as follows

7:30-8:30 Optional personal devotions

8:30-9:00 Breakfast

9:00-9:45 Squad/Staff Devotions

9:45-12:00 Ministry

12:00-12:30 Lunch

12:30-2:00 Siesta

2:00-5:00 Ministry

5:00-6:30 Team Time/Free Time

6:30-7:00 Dinner

7:00-9:30 Team Time/Free Time

Please if you feel led and think about my squad and I be praying for hope DR as the ministry has a lot of moving parts.

Please pray for;

  • The churches that have been planted! For Vickie and Ruben as they pastor and support these churches
  • The ministry the Dominguez’s have within the community; providing food to the needy, moms group, and their daughters as they are forming a youth ministry!
  • For the paperwork process with the government to go smoothly and quickly so they can be approved as a safe house for exploited women. As well as prayer over the creation of a program and curriculum for these women.

Thank you all for following along on this journey! My squad and I are excited to be at our second overseas ministry location and expectant of all the things God has in store for us here at Hope Mountain!

One response to “Welcome to HOPE Mountain”

  1. This is so exciting! I pray that you can each find joy in your service and a connection to God that keeps you grounded in the DR while you will inevitably find your thoughts drifting to post-race things. Thank you for taking the time to write your blog! I treasure these updates!
